Leading researchers on fatherhood and child development have developed a Global Fatherhood Charter, to define what they believe the fatherhood agenda is.
It addresses maternal and newborn health services and calls on them to:
- Offer and encourage the use of support for fathers and other family carers in ways that engage creatively with the local culture and socioeconomic conditions
- Provide information about how to support maternal and newborn health
- Support a harmonious community of care around the baby
